We all seem to know, as it is all over the media, that we need to make sure to drink enough in order to stay healthy. However, most of the time, regardless of all this knowledge, this is one of the things we pay the least attention to. In addition to preserving physical health, adequate fluid intake has a positive effect on brain function, mental performance, concentration and learning abilities, and mood. Let's face it, we will really need these skills during the exam period, regardless of whether we are expected to answer the questions or ask the questions ourselves.

How much should we drink?

For adult women, the daily recommended water intake is at least 2 liters, for men at least 2.5 liters (European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)). Do you consume that much per day?

What should we drink?

Water should be the basis of our liquid consumption! However, we can add some water-based vegetable or fruit smoothies, or simply by mixing herbs (e.g. peppermint, lemongrass, ginger) and forest fruits into water. We can make our fluid intake more varied by consuming small amounts of milk, milk drinks, and teas.

Even during the exam period, it is not worth prioritizing the consumption of coffee or the consumption of invigorating soft drinks and energy drinks, because after the momentary alertness, in the long term, these only support the decline of our performance and the development of a dehydrated state.
